South African installation artist Daniel Pope, whose career has evolved to the global stage, has created many works of art such as puppetry, performances, installations and sculptures. These fantastically spectacular installations have taken him to the top festivals around the world, bringing him international media attention and coverage. He was invited by Siemens to create an installation in honor of South Africa’s founding father, Nelson Mandela, as well as an installation for EDC, the world’s largest electronic music festival, installations that have brought him worldwide fame.

Daniel Popper X Siemens

In 2014, Daniel had been commissioned by Siemens to create a commemorative art installation in honor of South Africa’s founding father and freedom fighter, Nelson Mandela. As we all know, Mandela is a globally renowned leader of the national movement and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, and creating an art installation related to such a great man was undoubtedly a great honor, but also extremely stressful. Daniel decided to create a tree of wisdom. At the base of the tree, inspirational quotes from Nelson Mandela were placed on top. The project won BASA’s Art and Business Partnership Award 2014.
