Rob Mulholland is a British sculptor and environmental artist who exhibits throughout the UK and around the world and receives public and private commissions. His practice explores the complex relationship between humans and the natural world. Utilizing a variety of forms and materials, his sculptural installations interact with their surroundings. These mirrors create the uncanny effect of blending into their surroundings, sometimes appearing almost completely camouflaged, but suddenly jumping out at you as your perspective shifts around them. Our relationship as individuals to others and the nature of our given environment forms an important aspect of artistic practice.

Rob Mulholland X Forest Reserve

Robb created six mirrored male and female figures, “Vestige”, to represent relics – a trace of the people who once lived in this space. The figures absorb their environment, reflecting the daily vicissitudes of life in the forest through mirrored reflections. They create a visual space of emptiness, as if they were part of our world at one point and then became invisible silhouettes when they disappeared into the forest.

Rob Mulholland X Four Seasons Hotel

“A group” represents the symbiotic relationship between people and the natural world. It references the rising sea levels in the area and the relationship with the community and its natural environment. The sculpture was completed in four weeks, working closely with local Virginia companies. The four figures are made of mirrored stainless steel and resemble sentinels guarding a flock. Funded by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Rob Mulholland X U.S. State Parks

Daniel created the Anima art installation for the Electric Daisy Carnival, the world’s largest electro festival, which has been described as a “must-go” music festival for electro fans. ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL: Anima Anima Las Vegas, a 7-meter-tall statue of a female goddess, flies kisses towards festival-goers as they enter the venue. The structure has a glass floor at the base where attendees can hang out and enjoy the aquarium below. The piece is made of steel, fiberglass, wood and natural fibers.

Rob Mulholland X British Land

The sculpture represents the aspirations and future hopes of the Oatlands community and reflects the heritage of the area’s past. The girl’s profile represents the youth and future of Oatlands. Pages emerge from her mind, each inscribed with local place names and memories told by older residents. This community-oriented image of youth symbolizes the continued growth and ambition of future generations of Oatlands children, and is directly influenced by the input of the children of Oatlands. The project was commissioned by UK real estate company Avant Homes.
